Dental implants
Missing teeth need not mean missing out on the foods you love. Straumann dental implants replace a single tooth, several teeth or all of them, and bring your smile back to full function.
Three steps to a new smile
Implant placement
The implant is placed in your jaw under local anesthetic. Depending on your case, a temporary restoration may go on while the bone heals, so you have a natural-looking smile throughout.
Healing
Bone grows around the implant and integrates with its surface. This typically takes three to six months.
Your restoration
Once the implant has integrated, we take an intraoral scan or impression, the lab makes your final restoration, and one of our dentists places it.
A thorough plan first

A thorough diagnosis, an individual consultation and a skilled team are the cornerstones of successful implant treatment. Whether you are missing one tooth, several or all of them, implants are often an excellent way to restore your smile and your bite. Digital CT imaging helps plan each implant precisely.

Dental implant questions
Is dental implant treatment expensive?
The initial cost depends on how many implants are needed, whether bone augmentation is required, the surgery itself and the type of restoration. Conventional options are not always more cost-effective: in many cases implants may be more economical in the long term. We discuss every option with you before treatment begins.
Are there risks when placing dental implants?
Implant therapy is a well-proven technique that has been used to replace teeth for decades. Risk factors vary: poor oral hygiene or limited healing from conditions such as diabetes or osteoporosis may reduce the odds of an implant staying in place. As with any surgery there are potential risks, so our team evaluates whether implants are right for you.
Is dental implant surgery painful?
Implants are generally placed under local anesthetic to minimize discomfort. If you have any concern about the implant site afterward, please check with us.
Is there an age limit for dental implants?
Implants can be placed once the jaw has stopped growing, so young patients must wait until their jawbones are fully developed. At the other end there is no age limit, as long as the patient has no significant medical risk factors.
